Thanks to Cramer for sticking it out with me all day even though the flight was minimal. Weather: Today was more like summer than fall. Skies were hazy with about 30% cloud clover in the morning, and temperatures were very warm. (temps ranged from 18.1 C to 24.5 C) Winds were very light, starting from the NNE, and by noon totally changing to S. The combination of these conditions meant birds were very high by 11am. Raptor Observations: A few good hours today, but the remainder was very quiet. Some movement of Sharp Shinned Hawks & American Kestrel. Broad Wings were high and few...who knows what went over above the clouds. The resident Bald Eagle adults and immatures kept us entertained with much flight activity including four birds in the air together over the marsh. Non-raptor Observations: Many Warblers in the poplars and willows around the tower this morning. Included were Pine, Black Throated Blue, Black & White, & Canada for sure...others as well. Also seen from the tower: American Red Start, Downy Woodpecker, Barn and Tree Swallows, Cedar Waxwings, Yellow Breasted Chat, Chimney Swift. The marsh is LOADED with Greater Egrets and Great Blue Herons. We also spotted (and heard) 2 pair of Common Moorhens. ======================================================================== Report submitted by Cindy Isenhoff (akahawkla...@aol.com) Holiday Beach Migration Observatory information may be found at: http://hbmo.org/ _______________________________________________ ONTBIRDS is presented by the Ontario Field Ornithologists - the provincial birding organization.
