The LeConte's Sparrow is still being seen today in the same general location at the ponds behind the Rona in Waterdown. Barry Cherriere and Rob Waldhuber have located it again slightly south of where it has been seen for the past couple of days. I expect Barry will be there for some time today. Please be cautious not to disturb the bird. It has been seen from the path but takes patience as it is a skulker.
Cheers, Cheryl Edgecombe Directions to this site: Take the QEW to the 403 to Hwy 6 North. From Clappison's Corners (Hwy 6 & Hwy 5), go east on Hwy 5 (Dundas St) to the first stop lights at the new Power Centre commercial area, and turn right. Go to the left side of the Walmart and drive behind it. Park at the left corner and walk down the dirt track towards a brick pumphouse building and follow the trail into the wetland area, which is an old quarry. Follow the trails to the NW corner and check the vegetation bordering the pond here. _______________________________________________ ONTBIRDS is presented by the Ontario Field Ornithologists - the provincial birding organization.
