Highlights:

The weather has finally turned, and for the last couple of days northerly
winds have been pushing the unseasonably hot and humid conditions away from
us. Accompanying the wind has been an influx of migrants, mainly Blue Jays,
sparrows and kinglets, into the area; overall though it has still been a
quiet week. Here are the highlights of the last week:

SNOW GOOSE - 6 white birds were seen in recently harvested fields on Wolfe
Island on 28th.

EURASIAN WIGEON - a male was found in Kingston's Inner Harbour on 26th. It
was still present today at the Lilla Burke viewpoint on the east side of the
river.

AMERICAN GOLDEN PLOVER - 6 birds were seen at Kaiser Cross Road on 28th, as
well as a single at Verona on 29th.

STILT SANDPIPER - 2 birds were still present at Kaiser Cross Road, Prince
Edward County, on 28th.

NORTHERN SHRIKE - an early bird was reported from near Napanee on 24th.

Blackburnian (Prince Edward Point) and Wilson Warblers (Big Sandy Bay, Wolfe
Island) were reported this week - both on the later side of the spectrum.
Good numbers of Ruby-crowned and Golden-crowned Kinglets are now moving
through, along with Blue Jays, Eastern Phoebes, White-throated Sparrows and
a scattering of Winter Wrens. White-crowned Sparrows showed up in numbers
this morning.

In order to minimise disturbance to wildlife and property in the recording
area, Kingston Field Naturalists has adopted the KFN Sensitive Sightings
Policy
<http://kingstonfieldnaturalists.org/birding/KFN_sensitive_sightings_policy.
pdf> . Please note that you must be a member of Kingston Field Naturalists
(KFN) or be accompanied by a member to access the Martin Edwards Reserve.

As always, a big thank you goes to all who have submitted sightings over the
last week.

Mark.
