Right, which is why the offer that was presented was talking about
numbers of zones in the thousands.

The other key factor that is not being considered is the need for
offsite secondary.

Swapping secondary service for a few dozen, even a few hundred, low
traffic zones is no big deal.  When you start talking about a number
significantly higher than that, or even at that level where the
management of the dns data itself is getting to be a bit much (which
is more likely to happen in smaller 1-2 person type shops), then an
outsourced solution is viable.

This wasn't a commercial offering.  Had it been, the specs and offer
would have been vastly different.  I wasn't looking to establish a
commercial dns service with this, just to provide something that I
noticed more than a few people here could use.  I've had a couple want
to take me up on it.  I'm trying now only to round out that number so
that I make sure that the actual costs are covered.
