Hi
I would like to react on the question wether there are more unhorned bbb`s
. We have in the Netherlands a small pop. so called barbados. I try to get
fresh blood becouse we need to breed with genotype arr-arr rams. lately I
read that you call this aarr and that the middle codon nr154 is left out.So
our population is becoming extinct if we dont manage to find the right rams
to use. The population is already this small that nearly no one keeps an
individual studbook. I have been xbreeding with my own sheep and have now
about 400 ewes from varying from 1/2 till 7/8 barbados polled .Till now I
was trying to increase the bbb blood in my flock. The whole Dutch population
of bbb may be no more than about 100 purebreds. I recently got in touch with
a breeder who has a half arr ram , but I doubt that that is a purebreed, it
may be my only way of avoiding the breed to become extinct. In the future I
maybe try to import fresh blood from your population If you can prove me
that it is only arr homozygoot and NO HORNES. I like this mailinglist and it
has already been a great help to me about learning more of this fine breed.
Hope to get some reaction on this.... kind regards,
 Boudewijn Kooijman
