Hi Carol Thanks for your reaction My knowledge about the scrapiegenetics I found in a preveous mailing of your own list. It was a link in the mail from Karen Cunningham dd. 16-11-03 : http://www.animalagriculture.org/scrapie/Scrapie.htm . A very thoughtfull link and also helped me a bit further with the scrapietheorie. I am only a sheepfarmer and therefor not so good at explaining these things. So it is better to study for yourself as it is of major importance for the future breedingpossibillities. You see we have a big problem with the outhorities here in the Netherlands becouse they forbid us to breed with no other rams than these genetic bloodlines which they say that are less susceptible to scrapie. There are also big discussions going on wether they are doing the right thing. We make very narrow bloodlines this way with a big chance of inbreeding with all its bad qualities. Also for example we do not know what this type of bloodline in the sheep can come up with as side effects! And Carol concerning the NO HORNES, I only ment that If I want to import sheep they better be from a no horne flock. The only and true Barbados Black Belly to me has no horns and has friendly caractre (not the nervous type). Kind regards Boudewijn Kooijman
