A fox will definately kill a small lamb if it can get it separated from it's
mother. I have a family of foxes in our neighbors pasture and they prefer
chickens. In years past, I have seen them gang up on one of my neighbors ewes who
had two lambs. The ewe kept the babies under her and they could not get them
separated to target one of the lambs (at least for as long as it took me to
get out there and break it up). The foxes have never tried to go after any of
my lambs, but I do keep mine away from that fence line and away from the woods
the fox travels in at night as a precaution. The chickens in my area are much
easier pickings for the fox than having to chase after a lamb, but there is
always some danger if the fox is hungry enough. Foxes are generally fairly
small, so their main target would be small lambs; after the lambs get any size, I
don't think the foxes would even try for them.
