Carol,

This is true. I have made improvents in my market. I bought my first ewe's
for $25 four years ago. I raised my prices last lambing from $35 to $50 for
mixed lambs. My neighbor was selling for $40 and saw I was getting $50, so
now she is asking $50.

Again, it is the market. I have sold all my breeding quality lambs to all
four corners of the state. They get a better price than the mixed meat
lambs. But locally, right now, I am having a hard time moving whats left.
They are now 10 weeks old, been advertised in the Phoenix paper (costly ad,
I might add) twice and I still have 9 lambs left. With alfalfa running
$6/bale...wholesale, I may have to lower my price so I am not "into" my
lambs for a feed bill. If I lower the price $10, I still will have enough
to buy a squeeze of alfalfa for the breeding stock which will last until
next lambing. So I make some profit, fill my freezer (4 lambs) and feed for
free.
