Hi, Jessie, I'm sure others will have more scientific answers for you - but just from my experience we have about 3 acres and have had as many as 25 ewes and lambs on it this summer with no problem -BUT - before the rains came during the dry spring months we were having to feed hay with only about 15 ewes and lambs. So, keep in mind that what you can support in the rainy summer months will be much diminished in the dry/cold months.
Good luck! I have a few sheep and @ 4 acres of fenced pasture, they haven't put much of a dent in the grass and I was wondering how many sheep to an acre? I would like them to keep it down as much as possible and still want to keep them on mostly grass. If anyone could help that would be great. Thanks for your time and hope to hear something, Jessie =============================================== This message is from the Barbados Blackbelly Sheep mailing list (http://www.awrittenword.com/listserv/index.html).
