Hi Jessica,
How many really depends on where you are?
I am in Texas and it has been a wonderful spring and summer and not enough stock to eat all the grass and foliage.  But come next summer it will be dry again.  So we stock for the average year.
In our county average is 6 sheep or goats to 25 acres.
So a good answer might come from a county extension agent or a neighbor.
Good luck,
Rhonda

Subject: [blackbelly] how many??

Hi,  I am sorta new to raising blackbellies and I really enjoy getting the info from the list.  I have a few sheep and @ 4 acres of fenced pasture,  they haven't put much of a dent in the grass and I was wondering how many sheep to an acre?  I would like them to keep it down as much as possible and still want to keep them on mostly grass.  If anyone could help that would be great.   Thanks for your time and hope to hear something,  Jessie
