Anyone out there know how the miniature horses and cattle were produced? Was
it "line breeding" of the smallest or something more complicated? I have a
2.5 month old BB that is only 1/2 the size of it's siblings and 10
"classmates" (all born within 7 days). The top of his back is at about belly
level of the other lambs. He was the 2nd born in a set of quads (one of
which was still born) and, except for an overbite, appears normal and
healthy. His 2 siblings were bigger at birth and consequently he had trouble
getting to mom for milk. After a couple of days I realized the problem
(other two growing rapidly, he was not), and I began supplementing with a
couple of bottle feedings per day until they were all eating grain and
grass. He is cute as a button (but aren't they all?) and we will probably
keep him as a pet but not for breeding - unless there is some demand for
miniature BB sheep - in which case I'll be looking for a miniature ewe lamb!
