my understanding was its caused by tomuch inbreeding.

im wondeirn the same thing.. 3 month ago.. we got cutest ram lamb.. i called him bubba-tex and his mother passed away when he was 2 or 3 days old. Then few days later.. we got female baby bb sheep. now both are in same month age but bubba tex havent grow very fast nor slow.. I am thinking  that he has stop growing.. comparin to the female, she is like 2x size than bubba tex. (bless his heart.. he so cute)

SO im thinkin that he could be minature bb...

Anyone out there know how the miniature horses and cattle were produced? Was

it "line breeding" of the smallest or something more complicated?  I have a
2.5  month old BB that is only 1/2 the size of it's siblings and 10
"classmates" (all born within 7 days). The top of his back is at about belly
level of the other lambs.  He was the 2nd born in a set of quads (one of
which was still born) and, except for an overbite, appears normal and
healthy. His 2 siblings were bigger at birth and consequently he had trouble
getting to mom for milk. After a couple of days I realized the problem
(other two growing rapidly, he was not), and I began supplementing with a
couple of bottle feedings per day until they were all eating grain and
grass. He is cute as a button (but aren't they all?) and we will probably
keep him as a pet but not for breeding - unless there is some demand for
miniature BB sheep - in which case I'll be looking for a miniature ewe lamb!
