NOTICE OF VACANCY Agricultural Experiment Station - St. Croix Campus Research Analyst II - Animal Science

QUALIFICATIONS:
A Bachelor's degree in Animal Science or a related area or three years of
scientific experience is required. A major in Animal Science with
experience in Reproductive Physiology and/or Livestock Production is
preferred. Successful candidate should have experience with research and
production of both large and small ruminants including breeding, nutrition,
genetics and animal health. Experience in routine animal management and care
is preferred. The candidate should have a working knowledge of
microcomputers for data entry and record keeping. The individual must be
highly motivated and able to work in a culturally diverse department.

ASSIGNMENT: Under supervision of the Animal Science Program Leader,
the candidate will perform routine professional work to support scientific
research in agriculture. Primary duties will include general animal
management (breeding, lambing, weaning, nutrition) of the sheep research
flock, animal health, maintaining flock records, replacement animal
selection, animal feeding, managing supplies for animal care, sheep research
facility maintenance, supervising of field staff, writing periodic reports
and performing other related duties as assigned. The candidate will also
assist in conducting field experiments involving beef and dairy and cattle
reproductive physiology, animal behavior, nutrition and growth and meat
production.

COMPENSATION: The salary range for this position is $29,684 to $33,438
for the administrative year, depending upon qualifications and experience.
Benefits include a liberal TIAA-CREF or Virgin Islands Government retirement

If applicable, economy jet fare to St.
Croix for the appointee and immediate family and a shipping allowance of up
to $1,250 will be paid by the University upon presentation of receipts.
