The thing is... I must protest the removal of those positions. If we eventually have the ability to disable the toolbar (and/or the slit, but that's beside the point i'm trying to make) then the slit would be a very good place to stick an application launcher, and other replacement tools that used to be in the toolbar, etc. So... maintaining those positions gives the user the ability to use the slit as a toolbar as well. How many people DO use it like that? I suspect not many, but there must be at least a few out there. Alas...
