It leaves out .jar files and widgets. Now if only there was an easy way to leave out all the printer stuff.

Cool trick. I was just testing this and noticed a difference in these two queries.

   % mdfind "kMDItemKind == Application" | wc -l
        483
   % mdfind "kind:app" | wc -l
        689

Why the difference? No idea, but the first version seems to include all I would want and then some. Since smaller catalogs usually keep QS happier, I'm going with that.
