I don't understand it as well. Apparently, the doc tarball dir path
includes the tarball name and then /doc as a subdir.

In this case, instead of the command that Wayne used, it is easier
to just say "If you downloaded ..., unpack both tarballs from the
same directory path, the documentation will install into a 'doc'
directory of the source tree."
