Cool. Unfortunately for me, we found out too late and the system I am typing this one will probably be in place for a year or more. Without KDE event sound, which kinda sucks as it is sort of neat. All other sound output works, including the testing of event sound, but the actual events don't produce sound, and anything I've tried doesn't fix it. All I get is no event sound and a message at KDE startup saying aRTS is hosed and reverting to the /dev/null device for sound. :-( I would rebuild KDE, but this is a 500mhz P3 that is slow as hell. Building KDE is a chore. It is good enough for what I use it for. This message is to thank the contributor who mentioned the fix for this issue. I've forgotten the actual events in the thread, but wanted to make it known that it is so cool that our little community is large enough that someone noticed the issue, found a fix for the issue, and sent in the remedy. And now is being put into place. Kudos to the OP that sent in the fix to the issue. -- Randy rmlscsi: [bogomips 1003.27] [GNU ld version 2.16.1] [gcc (GCC) 4.0.3] [GNU C Library stable release version 2.3.6] [Linux 2.6.14.3 i686] 19:32:01 up 1 day, 11:32, 3 users, load average: 0.25, 0.12, 0.17 -- http://linuxfromscratch.org/mailman/listinfo/blfs-dev FAQ: http://www.linuxfromscratch.org/blfs/faq.html Unsubscribe: See the above information page
