Hmm...it shouldn't lock up on you trying to write the legacy config 
file.  That configuration file is still supported and should be bugged 
upstream.  The 'Xorg -configure' command could probably be removed from 
the book at this point, but it should still work.  If one of you that 
are affected could do a 'startx' without a configuration file, and let 
me know if the same problem occurs, that would be great.
