DJ,
Running startx without a configuration file causes a segmentation fault
which is what I would expect.
I tried this a work on a VM (MS Virtual PC;) with the same results, i.e.
the 3 mentioned drivers causing grief.
I did a few more experiments. The lockup is with the keyboard. i.e.
numlock does not respond, but logging in remotely is still possible and
the OS is fully functional. I've attached some output results running
'Xorg -configure'. x1.out is with all drivers intact. x2.out is with
xgixp driver removed. x3.out is with xgixp and vmware drivers removed.
And x4.out is with xgixp, vmware and newport drivers removed.
Wayne.
