That section assumes you are not updating from the version you built in 
lfs.  You explicitly said you are using udev-196.  You need see the next 
page (udev from systemd).

Only if you update the main udev code (as in lfs-svn) to -196 first. 
You should not try to mix versions of udev.  That's asking for trouble.
