I am argumentative, sometime, but try always to accommodate the
different points of view. On this subject, I was one of the first to
agree on archiving most GNOME packages. But...

I am back to the beginning of the thread. The reason is that we have
somebody that uses all gnome packages. I have received two mails from
him about the subject. So, if we are asking people to comment, I think
these comments I received are a very relevant. Then may be we should
keep the book as is. I will try to resume his arguments and add some of
my own.

In the second mail, there are several points:

1. He would send patches whenever necessary.
2. He could test packages.
3. This is restricted to GNOME directory.

My points follow, now. I will write everything hypothetically, to be
discussed by all of us, and only after discussion, a decision by all
will be summarized.

The first question is still relevant: how to maintain GNOME? I volunteer
to go on maintaining it. No need for him to send patches for all
packages, but eventually, his help will be asked.

Second question is: what about the packages that cannot be tested by us?
I will ask him to test for me. There is already one that needs testing:
cheese. So, I am asking him to send me a post so that I can change it
from lfs7.4_built to lfs7.4_checked, if he has the hardware.

Third one is to ask him if there is any correction to the book which is
already necessary (it seems there is at least one).

I like baobab. I will restore it from archive (of course, after
discussion, if no objection).

Think these are the points still to be discussed, and am waiting for new
points, comments and/or objections.

When discussing about GNOME I always remember the work by Wayne (famous
Wayne's book), after him, the effort by Ken to get it in the book, and
by Armin maintaining it. It would be good not to lose all that.
