 At some time in the past, perhaps in 2013, a release note for these
drivers noted that they are for non-linux systems.  What that meant,
of course, was non-udev systems.  But LFS has used udev for a
verrrry long time, so we were happy to drop those packages from
BLFS.  No reason why you should not do as you have done, but for
BLFS a desktop without udev is definitely "a path less travelled".
