Well, I saw that extra line, but did not think of disabling it! You are
right: when it is not ticked, the whole DRM menu disappears.
I believed that ticking was only needed for accessing the submenu
indicated by the ---> (about EDID and other things I do not really understand).

Will add that to the book. Thanks.

*Question to others*: I am inclined to write this way:
Direct Rendering Manager  --->
  Direct Rendering Manager (XFree86 4.1.0 and higher DRI support) ---> : Y
  Intel I810: Y or M
  ....

Please note that I propose _not_ to add "or M" to the first line. The reason is that if you tick only "M" at this point, you cannot tick "Y" for the prompts below. Thoughts?
