Hi Sharon,
What you want to buy are CDR disks.
When you burn your disk, burn it as an audio cd.
This will allow you to play the disk in most new players.
If the files you are wanting to put on the disk are not compatible with an 
audio cd format, then the software you are useing should alert you to this.
