Weird! Thank you very much! Maybe I'll get a different tech, this time a 
friend who will look at it for free or for a meal out, to double check on 
it. If you or anyone else has tips on how to force windows to recognize it, 
that would be very much appreciated. If not, hopefully my friend will know 
something this other tech didn't, or I'll just blame it on the extra memory 
on the video card and try to move on with life.
