Hi Kate,
One thing you may want to check is that you don't have MSN or Windows
messenger starting up automatically when Outlook Express starts up.
You'll find this in the options dialog box in Tools.
Once you've confirmed that the check box is unchecked, try unchecking it
again in MSConfig and see if that does the trick.
