That sounds like a firewall issue regarding blocked emails. I would check your settings for your firewall and make sure the block is not selected. There are 3 choices...allow all, block, stand alone computer*this is the one I have mine set on*

Open the AVG from your desktop and when the list of components are given arrow down to firewall and enter on it and tab across to see what your firewall settings are. Did you when you installed it accept all the defaults?

I do too but lately it tells me that I am not protected but when I look I am what is that abut?

And it is blocking sometimes my e mails from downloading to my out look express?

I do like the new AVG 8 it's less intrusive and just does it's thing in the
 background. I use the full paid version not the freeby..

Is it okay to have two or more antivirus programs on the computer as long as
 they aren't running at the same time?

Also, Is the thought here that AVG 8 free is a junk program that doesn't do
 the job? I've seen a lot about avast and such, but have mainly heard
 skepticism and negative feedback about the quality of AVG.
