While Rick's answer is right, I think the term synchronise generally applies
to outlook/exchange server etc. since while you can read messages offline
etc., it sort of stays connected to the server while online, whereas things
like outlook express etc. really just carry out send/receive commands either
at regular intervals, or when you tell it to.
Stay well

Subject: [Blind-Computing] THE TERM synchronize IN E-MAIL PROGRAMS
Group,
I have searched through the support pages for this term and have been
unable to find anything useful. for the record, what exactly is
"synchronize" when referring to operations in an e-mail program? I'm
using a relatively new e-mail client called Windows Live Mail. it's the
one recommended for use with Windows 7. Can someone tell me in plain
English what I can expect if I decide to "synchronize" my e-mail?
Thanks in advance for any help.
