Also, the Pearl which uses OB 9 if your already previous user of OB to upgrade is $150 and the Pearl their new scanner cost $600. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Mike & Barbara Arcadia" <mb69ma...@charter.net>

Hi Lennie;

To purchase Openbook, the price is $995.00. I have heard that the IBM
ViaVoice SAPI4 synthesizer can be gotten somewhere. If I can find it I will
let you know.  Take care.

Hi Mike,

Good to hear from you. Unfortunately, I don't have open book thus I
only have Reed on my Jaws. So I am out of luck.

By the way, how much is open book and is it software that can be used
with any scanner?

You take care!

Hi Lennie;

I use the Reed voice from SAPI4. If you have Openbook installed you will
have the SAPI4 synthesizer installed on your computer. SAPI4 is the IBM
ViaVoice synthesizer. To see if SAPI4 is available to you startNVDA, press
insert, control, +S for the synthesizer page, arrow down this list of
synthesizers to see if SAPI4 is there. If it is there, highlight it and
tab
to okay. Then, press insert, control, + V for the voices page, you will be in a combobox, arrow up or down to find / highlight the voice you want, now
tab through and make all of your voice settings, tab to okay and press
spacebar. Remember to save your settings. Hope this helps. Take care.

Chris,

Darn! Thanks for letting me know about Eloquence. Now, if I can only
find out what is wrong when I start NVDA.
