I have been using Skype for since about 2002 and it was only on Sunday last that I changed from 3.8 to Skype 4.2. Google have been asking people to upgrade to the later versions of Skype but I don't know how long Version 3.8 will remain as it is. I know that scripts for this version might not be upgraded.

The Skype 4.2 works well and the audio is fantastic. However, scripts for the newer versions are upgraded frequently and there is also a program called Skype Talking which alerts users to people who are online or those who have left and several other things which I can't remember.

Now that I have upgraded to Skype 4X - there is a beta version of Skype 5) I am learning how to use all the new features and over time - a couple of weeks - everything will grow on you.

I hope this e-mail will help.

Subject: [Blind-Computing] Do I need to change from Skype 3.8

Dear Friends,
I have been using Skype 3.8 for a year and a half and very successfully, just perfect!

Yesterday, I received a message when on Skype that it wanted to download a current version, I clicked "No" or "Cancel Download" I think both LOL! Anyway, today, a friend said that she heard Skype was going to not allow Skype 3.8 from being used any longer! This would be very bad for me, as I hate to change programs that are working Perfect, as Perfect is good enough.

Has anyone heard this "rumor" which I must call it now?

Thanks for any comments on using Skype 3.8.

With Best Regards,
Alan
