Rosemarie, sp2 is no longer supported. U can try to download &/or install Security Essentials from now until they install central air in a very hot place, & it simply will not work.
U should check to ensure that your system meets the minimum requirements prior to installing sp3. 1 other thing u should probably make certain of is that there's no malware on your machine. In addition, certain antivirus/antispyware programs that prohibit changes to your registry & files like those required by sp3 should be disabled prior to installing. U need to be aware that you're now running an unsupported operating system & that, as such, you're at serious security risk.
