Hey Rick.
Thanks a lot for the response. I may not have been clear enough with my
initial post though, possibly because I know this technically isn't really
the place to ask but I'm not on any more relevant forums and there is indeed
an option for key repeat in jaws, which I thought initially might be the
problem. My difficulty isn't with jaws and its responsiveness to my
keystrokes, but with the fact that the keys themselves are not repeating
when held down. I could lean on the "a" key all night and still get only one
"a"...kind of nice if you inadvertently fall asleep at the keyboard but not
so good if you're backspacing over crap you've written or trying to control
your winamp volume. There is a "key repeat" checkbox in the user options of
jaws configuration manager, but it's never been turned off, so I was
wondering if there is also some kind of command/hotkey/toggle in windows
that I might have accidentally switched off. I've looked in keyboard under
control panel and while there's something to control the rate of repeat
there doesn't actually seem to be an on/off toggle, and the rate of repeat
is definitely set high enough, so it's not that...
Aaanybody? I would really like to fix this.
Does anybody know? anybody? I would really like to fix this. haha

Hi JM,
It sounds like you may have inadvertently changed the typing echo.
Press the Jaws Key + the number 2 on the number row to cycle thru the
options.

Subject: [Blind-Computing] my keys are no longer repeating
hey folks.
I'm not sure where else to ask this and I've looked online for a solution
but so far haven't found anything too helpful.
Some time the other night, my keyboard stopped repeating character input
when a key was held down. This is mostly not too much of a bother when
typing, however as everyone knows, sometimes it's nice to just be able to
hold down the backspace key when you want to delete something, and
controlling volume and other sliders is a real pain when one has to keep
going "tap tap tap tap tap". I use Windows XP and Jaws 11, and I searched
around in the keyboard options in control panel, only coming across
"repeat rate", which is set fairly high. I also checked to make sure the
"key repeat" in jaws user options was enabled in the default
configuration, and it is. Is there another windows setting that I'm
missing that toggles this on and off? Or is it most likely that
something's wrong with my keyboard?
Any tips would be appreciated!
