Hi Matthew,

Thank you very much for your reply & input. We know for sure that it is the
external drive being powered on that is causing the problem. Pressing the
F8 key puts us into safe mode, as far as what I am being told. This
particular computer has been acting a little weird in other instances as
well, that is another reason for the technician. We want to get ahead of
any major problems that could possibly be heading our way. Thanks again,
take care.
Mike

  I don't believe you need a tech for this. All you need is someone sighted.
  When they turn on the computer have them hit f8 repeatedly after hitting
the
  power button. Some options should come up one being boot order or
something
  like that. They will know when they see it. It could also very possibly
just
  be doing a scan disk. Try just letting it go for a bit and seeing if it
  comes back on. Give it at least a half an hour.

  Subject: [Blind-Computing] Boot Order Problem

  Hi All;

  I am running XP Home & if I leave the power to my external drive turned on
&

  try to reboot the computer it won't reboot. If I turn the power off to
the
  external drive, the computer will then reboot. It was mentioned to me
that
  I have a Boot Order problem.  My questions are;

  1. What are my Boott Order options with XP Home?

  2. What is the best option to use when running a screen reader, if that
  means anything to the Boot Order process?

  I need to schedule an appointment with a technician so, I would like to
have

  some knowledge of this issue & my options before I make the appointment.
  All advice / help will be greatly appreciated. Thanks much, take care.
  Mike
