Hi Jason,

Below are 2 other ways you can achieve the same results;

#1;
Doing the following removes html formatting from source material copied from
web based resources.
1. Highlight the text/Email you want to copy.
2. Copy it to the windows clipboard with CTRL+C.
3. Return to or open a new document.
4. If you are copying text into an existing document, When you get to the
place you want to insert your copied material press
alt+E. Just press Alt + E if you are pasting text into a new document.
5. Up-arrow until you hear Jaws say "paste special...."
6. Press enter and up-arrow until you hear Jaws say "paste as unformatted
text" and press enter.
This will remove all of the HTML formatting from your copied material and
insert it into your document.
Be advised that your cursor will be at the bottom of the inserted material
and you will need to use the appropriate reading commands to get to the
beginning of your text.

#2;
One thing you can do is to select and copy information from a web site as
text only. This use to be the default in earlier versions of JAWS. When on
a web page bring up JAWS verbosity with Insert_V and use down arrow to move
to the "virtual cursor settings choice." Expand the group if it is closed
by using right arrow. Use down arrow to move to the choice "select and copy
full content using on screen highlight." Press the spacebar until JAWS says
"select and copy using virtual cursor" and then press the enter key. When
you select the information and copy or append it to the clipboard, the
formatting and HTML element information won't be included.
Hope this helped.  Take care.
Mike

  Paste it into notepad first and then copy it back to the clipboard then
  paste it into word.

  Subject: [Blind-Computing] how do you remove formatting from a document

  Hi list.
  I have copied some text from a word document I downloaded from the net.
  However, the copied text, still has the headings imbedded from the
original
  document. I know this, because Jaws says "heading" before the relevant
text.
  Deleting the heading doesn't seem to be working. Is there anything else i
  can do to remove this and any other imbedded formatting like tables etc?
      I am using word 2003, XP home and Jaws 12.

  Thanks Jason
