I'm sure there is but I have never tried to find out that information on
mine since I knew it when I bought my PC.
One way would be that you won't hear the whirring sound a hard drive
normally makes. You would probably also know when you buy your PC since the
solid state hard drive is a little more expensive, at least they were a few
years ago.

Is there any way to tell if your hard drive is solid state?
Thanks.

This I already know but it is good for others to take note.

FYI, if you have a solid state hard drive it is recommended not to run
defrag. First of all it isn't necessary on a SSD and secondly, it prolongs
the life of the hard drive if you don't run defrag.

I forgot that I wrote that, there is either too much on the server or my
memory is going bad. Probably the second item.

Hi Shreyas,
Here is another explanation of defragmenting by the list owner, David
Ferrin.

Daily Tip:
Disk Cleanup
Defragmenting your computer periodically can greatly enhance the computer's
performance. While helpful, all defragmenting does is tidy up what is on
your computer; to get rid of unnecessary files such as temporary Internet
files and whatever is in your Recycling Bin, run Disk Cleanup as well. Think
of it this way: Defragmenting sweeps the floor and Disk Cleanup takes out
the trash. Click Start, Control Panel, Performance And Maintenance (in
Category view), and Free Up Space On Your Hard Disk. The Disk Cleanup will
run automatically. Once the analysis is complete, simply follow the prompts.
David Ferrin
Take care.
