Hello Yakker,
The version I am using is 1.2, however the problem is not the  program.
While messing around with some of the other games I own, I remembered that I 
have to turn off my hardware accelaration in the sound page of dx diag to 
play the fight sequences in grizzly gulch and chillingham.
I went ahead and turned  that back on and the sounds work just fine now. So 
it was my fault. I am sorry to  do that to you. Sorry for the trouble,
