Hi, I figure we are moving further and further away from gaming, but I do wish to make this last comment before directing the list back on to game topics. One of the reasons I feel Star Trek has become so popular is they have had 30 or so years to really give the story and characters a good amount of history and detail. Not only the books you mentioned, but they actually have books to teach you the Klingon language, the technical guides which give more-or-less detailed info about the ships, the religions of the races, and so on. it is very detailed, and sets itself out from many other series. Finally, they do try to add science and science theory to the story line which always helps.
