Jewel, If I may I'd like to add a bit about" summer ice" My Father in 
law told me as kids, his Father had a country store and during the 
winter they  took the horse down to the creek  and with hand saws cut 
out chunks of ice  and dragged them on a sled to an ice house built  in 
the side of a hill. each lawyer of ice was packed in sawdust. Many times 
they had ice up to July of the following year. today the last walls of 
the original ice house still stand. I think  of that as I push a button 
on my refrigerator / freezer  unit and select ice cubes .in this day and 
age many of us are spoiled by the ease of living. Lee
