you could always wire an outlet onto it.
Go out of the switch into an outlet, and make sure the returns are all 
correct, of course grounds where applicable.
You may not need the outlet, but could tell by plugging something in to it 
if  it  were on.
Try something like a lamp in the outlet. No kidding, just had to say that. 
Thought the heat of the bulb would let ya know.
