Hi,

Some have the top stopper part screw off of the stem below. For a liquid drain
cleaner though the point is that you are able to pour it through water in the
sink and it, being heavier than water will sink through and on to the clog.

There is no need to remove the stopper if using liquid drain cleaner.

Hope this helps.

Thanks, yes, it has a link and leaver, I didn't realize you had to uncouple,
though it makes sense. I swair I can remember having sinks with a similar
set-up where the "stopper" came free without disconnecting anything, but it
has admittedly been a long time.

  Hi,
I presume that the stopper you are referring to is one of those which can be
raised and lowered by a lever?
If so, then the bracket which holds the rod the stopper is attached to is
located a ways down on the drain pipe under the sink. There should be a
lever sticking out of the rear of the pipe and you have to remove this lever
in order to pull the stopper up and out.

Have a bathroom sink drain that's running slow. So, I decided that before
I did a bunch of work on it, I'd try using some liquid drain opener.

However, I cannot for the life of me, remove the "stopper". It seems like
every other drain I've worked on, but no matter how I twist or pull, the
stopper refuses to come out, so I can't pour the opener down the drain.
  Anybody have any suggestions?

  Thanks in advance.
