They sell completely insulated garage doors at Lowes. This has the foam sheet
enclosed between an extra sheet of aluminum. A door made of metal will
exchange more heat than anything else in a garage. It cuts down on the energy
required to heat it, and in many places like where Larry lives it will make
cooling the garage much easier as well. Insulating a garage and ignoring the
door is like leaving the window open.

This is more of a curiosity question, but why would you want to insolate a
garage door? I could see the benefits if you intend to spend long periods of
time in it and it is 0 degrees. Or if you were converting it into a room, that
would be another good reason. But then if you are going to go that far, why not
insolate the entire garage? I've lived in several different houses and have
never seen an insolated garage door, let alone the entire garage.

are these Styrofoam? That's a good question, I bought a 4 by 8 sheet last
year from home depot and it was hard to make a clean cut. I used a little
saw, but as I said it didn't come out clean. How much did these pre-cut
packages cost? I believe the 4 by 8 sheet cost me between 6 and 7 bucks.
I'd also like to insulate my garage door as I spend allot of time in the
  garage.
