You could try using a liquid detergent rather than powder - it doesn't clog
the drains either!

It is a liquid drying additive that you should have a dispenser 
for in the door of the dishwasher.  It I think changes the 
surface tension of the water and does not allow the little 
particles to stick.  We use it and it works like a charm.
