We've had several over 35 years, the hard wood ones had there pieces come apart due to bad gluing, can you believe it? the cheaper wood ones chipped or cracked and ther finishes deteriorated and thus allowed mold. Our best results are with cheap plastic ones, they feel kinda wimpy like they could break under the mas of large blind ones, but tthe one we have now has lasted over 10 years and cleans up with anything you might use that isn't gritty.
I used to scoff at the nylon or plastic bolts, but they do as well as anything and better than the fake brass ones which loose there plating in no time at all. I havn't tried the cushioned ones as i believe, for no reason other than prejudice, that the covering would crack and allow gunk buildup. So, keep it cheap and plastic. Tom Fowle
