Hey Jim, ok the knob that you refer to as a sharpener is on the right side and that would actually make sense although I have no idea how it would work since it probably would only sharpen a portion of the chain tooth. The knob on top once I removed the side cover, which covers the chain and drive mechanism seems to connect to nothing. It first of all is really hard to move, but once I pulled the cover off, underneath it doesn't seem to connect to anything at all. So, why it's there is one of those mysteries. I will say the motor on this bugger on the left side must hang out there a good six inches or so. Have no idea what it is capable of, but it'll be interesting to find out. Thanks for the info.
