I too have four routers and have destroyed another two over the years.

  I have 4 of them and I'm a total. Just keep a firm hold on it and your 
fingers clear of the bit. BTW, if it's a hand held router, move from right to 
left. That will keep the bit bighting into the wood. Left to right will cause 
it to skip and jump and makes it very hard to control.
