Betsy, you should have watched the myth busters a few weeks ago. They took an electric water heater and plugged up the safety valve and water lines. had it filled and turned it on. It became a missile must have gone 500 feet in the air. Then they constructed a shell of a house. the heater went through two floors and the roof. Really don't worry, that is why there is pop off valves.
