I would have to agree with Brice. I have not noticed that garbage disposals are being used any less often. I also don't understand why they use more water. I turn mine on during the normal course of washing and rinsing dishes.
I find the disposal to be very useful in reducing the biodegradable stuff in my kitchen garbage pale.
