I'm running Windows 10 on multiple machines, and everyone in my family is running Windows 10 as well. I like Windows 10, and my experience is that it isn't a bear to deal with at all.

oh yeah. One of my room mates here was forced into an upgrade earlier this
year. He had no end of problems and finally, I ended up helping him to reformat
the drive, place his old account data back on there and effectively roll back
to windows 7. I also turned off automatic updates (download only).

yeah, so windows 10 is definitely a bear to deal with.

I don't know if this is relevant, but our machine gets stuck every time it
tries to install the Windows 10 upgrade that came out in the fall. It's a
Gateway machine, and I'm told that this upgrade is incompatible with our model.
It could be that Windows doesn't do anything to the computer in question but
doesn't work properly either.

hmmm. that might be a HDD issue or a controller issue. the only reason I still
suspect Windows 10 for the fault is that the HDD shutdown happened after
running it. Like I said, you might need some visual assistance to determine
what may have been modified. Also, Windows 10 likes to erase the boot loader in
favor of it's own boot loader, thus removing any possibility of dual booting
another OS that MS might have an issue with.

Hi.
I can boot cd without problem on the computer.
The problem is just that the hard drive doesn't turn on.

Hi.
I was trying to set up a double boot system. windows 10 and Linux.
I had Linux on the harddrive and it worked fine.
then I downloaded the latest iso from microsoft using windows media
creator.
I inserted the cd and booted from that.
Suddenly my hard drive just stopped spinning.
I can't install Linux at all. it doesn't detect the hard drive. just a
cd if you put that in.
Do you Think that just booting windows 10 broke the hard drive or the
motherboard.
I've bought a new computer now with asus x99-e ws/usb 3.1 motherboard.
I'm planning to do the same, but I'm afraid. the computer is expensive.
