The RSS reader plugin does not currently have an option to limit the number of entries retrieved. That's normally done by the RSS generator as Daisuke suggested. The BoltWire RSS generator, for example, can be configured to generate any number of feeds, and be organized and sorted in various ways.
If for some reason you can't manage this at the generation level, we can look into adding something like this in the reader. Let me know if you can't work it out. It shouldn't be too hard.
