What about the "Wizard of Oz" series by Baum (and others like Ruth Plumbly)? I still read them-my favorite is "Patchwork girl of Oz" lol... you'd probably have to read them to her, since it's a long book (and also don't let some of the unpronounable words stop ya like in the "Magic of Oz")
